Chicken Shawarma

Serves 4

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, breasts, or mix of both

  • 1/2 cup beituti Garlic Shawarma Marinade

  • Optional for serving:

    • Pita

    • Toum (garlic sauce)

    • Optional toppings: Shredded lettuce, Cucumber pickles, Turnip pickles, Sliced tomatoes, Sumac onions

PREPARATION

  1. Slice the chicken thinly (for extra thin or shaved pieces, use partially frozen chicken).

  2. Toss the chicken in the marinade. You can marinate it for up to 24 hours, but a quick marinade works well too.

  3. Meanwhile, prepare your choice of toppings.

  4. Heat a large heavy-bottomed skillet or griddle over medium high heat, and then add the chicken. Avoid overcrowding the pan.

  5. Let the chicken cook undisturbed for 3-4 minutes until browned on one side.

  6. Flip to brown the other side. Chicken should be done in 8-10 mins total.

  7. Serve as pita wraps with garlic sauce and toppings of choice. Alternatively, use chicken on salad, rice bowl, as hummus topping, etc.
