Beef Shawarma
Serves 4
Ingredients
2 lb shaved beef steak, sirloin, flank steak or flap steak
1/2 cup beituti Zesty Shawarma Marinade
Optional for serving:
Pita
Lemon tahini sauce
Optional toppings: Cucumber pickles, Turnip pickles, Sliced tomatoes, Sumac onions, Chopped parsley
Directions
If your beef isn't already shaved, slice it thinly against the grain. For extra thin slices, use partially frozen beef.
Toss the beef in the marinade. You can let it marinate for up to 24 hours, though a quick marinade works well too
Meanwhile, prepare the lemon tahini sauce and your choice of toppings.
Heat a large heavy-bottomed skillet or griddle over medium high heat, add the oil, and then the beef in one layer. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
Leave the beef slices as is for 2-3 minutes until they brown on one side. Then, flip to brown the other side. Beef should be done in 6-8 mins total.
Serve as pita wraps with lemon tahini sauce and toppings of choice. Alternatively, use beef on salad, rice bowl, as hummus topping, etc.
